nominate me for an oscar please?
I'm lying in bed with tonsillitis. How fantastic? I am also trying very hard to stay awake for the oscars, which only come on, on south african television, at 3 am. I suppose I could just watch the rerun tomorrow? But thats not quite the same.
Just for interests sake here are some of the nominations. dum dum dumm
Best picture:
'American Hustle'
'Captain Phillips'
'Gravity'
'Her'
'Nebraska'
'Philomena'
'12 Years a Slave'
'The Wolf of Wall Street'
Best actor:
'Christian Bale'
'Bruce Dern'
'Leonardo di Caprio'
'Chiwetel Ejiofor'
'Mathew McConaughey'
Best Actress:
'Amy Adams'
'Cate Blanchett'
'Sandra Bullock'
'Judi Dench'
Now I have only seen one of the movies on that list and that is 'Gravity'. I can add that I have watched all the trailers for the others. But that doesn't count so I do feel very disappointed in myself to say the least. The Oscars is such a glamorous and elite event. I am so happy that Ellen De Generes is the host, she's such a remarkable woman.
So let's allow the anticipation to commence...
I did attend the Design Indaba this morning and I must say I was a bit disappointed. There were amazing things but also a lot of repetition from the previous year and I don't know it just missed that oomf. There was a 3D model printer which was incredible though. ahh. I mean how does it even work?? I think I stood there for at least an hour watching it "print" something.

The hours
This afternoon I watched this movie called 'The Hours' with Nicole Kidman and Meryl Streep. It Is such an intense and brilliant movie. I missed the start though so I wasn't entirely sure what exactly it was about. I researched the movie and realised that it is based on a true story and is about how Virginia Woolf wrote her novel, Mrs Dalloway. It was fantastic. Really emotionally draining, but great.
And then the strangest thing happened to me. My mother and I went out for dinner and as I looked up at the wall across us there was a quote on the wall by Virginia Woolf. I mean what are the chances?

The Holidays Are Over
Yesterday. A Thursday of all days.
May just have been one of the worst days of my life to date.
Well I mean we all know i've had worst and I can't complain because I am sure there are many people that have far worse days than me and which are actually worth complaining about.
I woke up at 5:45 thinking it was 7:45 , which meant I would be late for school.I then got to school and went to the library to start finishing a project due for that day which I couldn't finish the night before because I left the rubric in my locker.
The bell goes and I am off to register period only to find out that one of the members of my consumer studies group was absent, as we had a practical to do, and she was bringing the key ingredients. So there I was stressing about what to do. I decide to ask one of my "close" friends if they could drive to the shops during break to buy the ingredients we were missing but of course it is against the rules of the school and she can't break the rules for a friend in need. I resorted to asking one of the guys in my maths class, who isn't nearly as good a friend. He raced off in break while I slaved away at my project.
The practical went okay and I managed to hand in my project on time.
The main reason why the day was so terrible was due to the fact that all the friends I thought would do anything for me and help me in a time of need, weren't there for me and weren't able to help me. It sort of showed me who the true people are and who are willing to actually risk stupid "rules" for their friends.
Anyway. I am making a far greater deal out of this than it actually is but I just needed to vent somehow. it's the weekend and I am extremely happy.
It is the Cape Town Design Indaba which I will be attending tomorrow. I will post about all the glorious things I see tomorrow.

you are my fairytale
Well it is in fact Wednesday today, which means that tomorrow is Thursday and I shall be leaving for waterpolo tour. Yes it is the one which I actually was not meant to go on but in the end they said I really should go and blah blah blah.
Enough of that. ARGENTINA, I am serious if you are? I want to travel with you to Argentina to explore what is out there? To see if there actually is more to life than Cape Town or Pretoria.
Over the last few weeks I have not been my usual self, this feels like a very cliché thing to say but it is the truth.
It feels as though the people who I thought I was close to turned out to be the ones that are drifting apart from me the most. I suppose theres a saying that people only start to drift if you push them away. But is that entirely true? I am very confused at the moment at simply everything that is going on around me. I actually have nothing to complain about yet I find myself in that situation daily. What to do what to do.
Also I am sort of starting with this initiative where I buy lunch for a homeless person at least once a month. It is just the most beautiful thing to see their faces when they receive the food. I don't think there are many things as enlightening as that. I really hope to inspire more people to do so.
here is just a song that i really love and is very inspiring for our wonderful trip to ARGENTINA that is in the planning process.

get bent
Oohkay so while I was doing my art research I found these amazing photographs:
I feel that I have been slacking hectically with our blog and well its just not on I actually have so much I could post about but I'm just not getting it together. Im going to try and post a lot more so you better watch out.
I was listening to Francoise Hardy (well I still am) and the bedroom surfing song started to play and my eyes began to tear up because I miss those days with you far too much and I wish I could just be with you xx

blue mugs and purple tufts
Yeah, it’s happening, my brother turned 20. We just got back
from a picnic, which he had organized, on the beach. It was wonderful. There
were a lot of the people that he is studying with. They were all wonderful
people. The one girl was a lot like you and I in a sense. She questioned
everything. I mean not like : “ why is that your name?” sort of thing. Instead
she made me question existence to another level of extremity. She told us about
the relativity of light or whatever she even called it. She explained that when
one person sees a shooting star but only warns the other spectator later that
one had passed. The spectator will see only a spec of light that will appear to
be a star but was in actual fact the shooting star that she (the one who saw it
as a shooting star) can then no longer see. I don’t think I am explaining it
properly. Anyway it was very
fascinating. Also the one guy there was told me that he is busy with that
course that allows you to work on yachts. It sounds so great. But I’m
definitely going to do it once I have something behind my name.
Well it’s Sunday, which means HOMEWORK HOMEWORK HOMEWORK.
I have to work on an oral about ‘Modernism’ now. Pretty exciting?
Or what do you say?
